In 2004 the total number of incidents in Bloomfield exceeded 1200, quite the contrast to the first year of operation when the firefighters responded to 15 emergency alarms. Apparatus operated by the department includes 2 engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 heavy rescue truck, 2 tanker trucks, 2 brush trucks, 1 mini-pumper, 2 light rescue trucks, water rescue equipment, a confined space/trench rescue trailer and 1 administrative vehicle. The type of emergencies the department responds to is as diverse as the men and women who serve the department, these emergencies include structure fires, brush fires, petroleum fires, emergency medical services, water rescue, confined space rescue, high angle rescue, trench rescue, vehicle rescue and hazardous material incidents.
